18 attendees: 17 members / 1 guest (Faye with a lovely British accent who also took home Best Table Topics Speaker)2 Prepared Speeches / 6 Table Topics Speakers
Nadine reminded us to fill out which speech you are doing in the website to make a permanent record for education level achievements.
Other Highlights:
– WOD – “Obtuse” – yes, it’s an angle but also means “annoyingly insensitive”. Here is its most famous use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yA8HT324wro–
Nicole got creative with her Ice Breaker for a new Pathways – She used “Rain” as a theme to connect her travels to different areas. Did you know it rains 42% of the days in Seattle?
– Nicole also used the beautiful phrase “Experiencing the magic of my friend’s 3 year old” in her speech… AWESOME grammarian shout out for that!!
– Language can convey so much: childhood innocence, the circle of life and the joy of creation is what I felt even though that is not what she said… BRAVO!
– Ed encouraged us to save more for retirement and taught us about high dividend stocks: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dividend_yield
Griselda ran Table Topics like a polished professional advising us to use the exercise to develop our ability to “quickly organize” thoughts into an eloquent, formatted response.
– Griselda also demonstrated great “control” of the meeting – whatever role you are in, when it’s your turn on the floor – OWN the role & CONTROL the meeting!
– Kevin talked about how he “carried the fear” of heights through childhood – What are you carrying that needs to be put down?
– Tom reminisced to days when he “wore a suit” and slipped in a pearl of wisdom of how some things in life “aren’t about the money”.
– Sunny and Nadine were presented their certificates for Competent Communicator and Advanced Communicator Silver achievements – CONGRATULATIONS!!
– Praveen uses a flip phone to avoid being a “Phubber”, but it turns out he is quite handy with a smartphone!
