Nicole served as Toastmaster to a best beaches theme. There were 10 Members and 1 Guest in attendance. We started on time and ended a few minutes early.
Scott announced that the club has achieved President’s Distinguished Status after George completed Level 3 in his Pathways the prior week. That makes 9 out of 10 goals achieved! Only 16% of the 203 clubs in North Carolina have achieved this highest status. Go us!!!
Scott encouraged the group to write down their notes from their speeches and reflect upon them as interviewing preparation. Most speech projects revolve around communication or leadership. Many interviewers want to hear about specific ways that you demonstrated these skills. Having a written record of them can help during interview prep time so you can speak to them when asked.
The WOD was Bellwether which means an indicator of something.
Nicole mastered the screen share showing beautiful beach photos from Venezuela, French Polynesia, Indonesia and two other tropical destinations.
Rikas gave his second prepared speech. He spoke about children spending too much time on electronic screens and his concern as a father. He highlighted specific health related issues that can result from excess screen time. He shared guidelines from major research bodies to help other parents with the same concerns.
Rich ran Table Topics pulling inspiration from fortune cookies. Traci took home best speaker.
