Shailiza served as Toastmaster to an Amtrak theme.
There were 7 members, 3 guests and 1 member from Gate City Vineyard Toastmasters club in attendance.
This was the second session with our brand new President Fowota. She kicked off the meeting sharing a little about the book she’s currently reading called Deep Work. A book on the ability to focus without distraction.
Bob was our Jokemaster, shared a joke about a boy in church, who ran straight toward the bell with his face and missed. Then, fell off the tower and died. However, the ending had a great punchline that made us all laugh out loud.
The Word of the day master was also Fowota. The word she chose was: ‘Sentient’ meaning, able to perceive or feel things.
Shailiza went on to share a little history around North Carolina’s Amtrak. Did you know both Piedmont and Carolinian (trains that run across North Carolina and all the way to New York) are jointly funded and operated by Amtrak and the North Carolina Department of Transportation?
George gave his prepared speech. Spoke poignantly on how our current social fabric has become all about taking. For a change, what if we instead focused on giving?
Bob ran Table Topics armed with a set of very interesting questions. Such as: If you could quit your job what would you like to do?
What’s more important? Intelligence or common sense?
All three guests in attendance also participated.
Fowota was voted as the best Table Topics speaker.
Enyonam will serve as Toastmaster next week.
