Shailiza served as Toastmaster to a Writing theme.
There were 10 members and 1 guest in attendance. The guest was none other than one of our previous Lake Norman Toastmasters Club members; Rich.
The Word of the Day was Prose.
George once again served as Jokemaster and shared a joke on writing. It was about a young man who wanted to be a great writer. He wanted to write something that every reader would read. He eventually grew up to be an Error message writer.
Siva gave a prepared speech about Water. The speech was titled: Thank you, Water
His speech covered research about the crystallization of water and its meanings. Next time when you drink your H2O, make sure to thank water, as it carries emotion and has the power to change you.
Kevin asked writing-related questions as Table Topics Master. He had a great set of questions that ranged from what’s your most favorite form of writing to what would you write to your 18-year-old self.
And the winner once again, the second week in a row was Rita. Talking about Rita, she is officially now a member of the Lake Norman Toastmasters Club. Welcome to the club, Rita.
Shailiza went on to share more tips on writing. Originally imparted by David Perell. According to David, writing is not created, it is assembled. Writing is essentially a work of assembling and putting together your great ideas. As students, we spend our entire life writing for only one person: the teacher. Then we go on to college and good grades is our only motivation to write. Later, academics distance themselves from society by writing obscure papers that nobody reads. And, no wonder we don’t like writing. So, David says, don’t write for one person, write for a global audience.
Please join us next week for another fun session of Toastmasters!
