Fowota served as Toastmaster to a Shenandoah National Park theme.
There were 11 members and 1 guest in attendance. The guest was our area director Randy Peters.
The Word of the Day was Plethora.
Fowota chose a very timely theme as the leaves are changing colors. This is the best time to travel to various national parks in the US to witness the beautiful fall colors. Fowota reminiscently shared the times she spent exploring this national park. Located in Virginia, Shenandoah National Park was established in 1935. It is only four hours away from Charlotte.
After a long time we had two prepared speeches; delivered by Deborah and Shailiza.
Deborah’s speech was titled: Drone Pilot in Distress
Every time Deborah speaks, it’s a delight to listen to her. She skillfully blends humor in her story, engages her emotion and allows the audience to relate to her. Not just during prepared speeches, but even during table topics sessions, she has managed to captivate us with her humorous response. When Deborah speaks, we all listen. To quote Kevin, Deborah’s speech evaluator; her speech was ‘phenomenal’. Needless to say, she was voted as the best speaker.
The 2nd prepared speech given by Shailiza, delved into the role of a Data Analyst.
Ron ran Table Topics armed with great questions such as: What are the advantages of an electric car?
What happened the last time you tried something new?
It was one of the bests table topics, no wonder we had three winners: Kevin, George, and Rita
Bob had signed up as the Quizmaster of the day. However, due to a technical glitch on Bob’s computer – Fowota and Rita ended up asking unscripted questions. It turned into a spontaneous play of fun. It’s the impromptu nature of these sessions that turn our meetings into fun events.
Join us next week as George leads us through another exciting round of Toastmasters. The main highlight: guest speaker Phyllis Kombol. And that’s not all, we’re offering a 33% membership discount to the first 8 new members. Joining the session as a guest is a great way to test the water! See you next week.
