Shailiza served as Toastmaster to a Dumpling theme.

There were 9 members and 1 guest in attendance.

The Word of the Day was Savor.

The highlight of this session was Bob’s speech, titled: The Legalization of Marijuana
The length of the speech was 7 minutes;  followed by a question and answer round. Altogether the speech lasted for 12 minutes. As you make progress in your Toastmasters pathways, this is one of the levels you have to go through. You speak for up to around 7 minutes and you allow the audience to ask you questions.

Shailiza gave a short history of dumpling and how its influence ran far and wide. Even Empanadas, raviolis…or even Indian samosas are one of the many variations of dumplings. After Chinese dumpling varieties became more popular in other countries; English people started calling them Dumplings, which means little lumps. This term is believed to have been used for the first time in 16th century England; to describe dough balls dropped in liquid.

Shailiza then ended her presentation sharing images of her most favorite dumplings in the world, straight from the Himalayan nation of Nepal, called momos.

Our next session is on Nov 28 as we take a Thanksgiving break.

Happy Thanksgiving!
