Angela served as Toastmaster to a Cinco De Mayo theme. There were 12 Members and 2 Guests in attendance. We started and ended on time.

Division Director, Djuna Barnes, was in attendance and praised the club’s successful continuation of productive meetings using Zoom. She encouraged the group to seek more Members outside of the local region now that things are virtual.

Scott applied Robert’s feedback from last week as his speaking tip. He encouraged the group to take note of our Guest’s, Kris, camera position and lighting as a great example to emulate to achieve a professional image on Zoom meetings. Her face was in the center of the screen with ample lighting. There were no distracting items in her background.

The Word of the Day was “Proliferate”, which means to increase in numbers rapidly. 5 or 6 Members managed to use it during their speaking opportunities.

Angela sprinkled in some interesting facts about Cinco De Mayo.

George gave a prepared speech on successful negotiation techniques. He started by suggesting that children are the best negotiators and followed with three things they do well in negotiating. He gave his speech standing up which may be something worth trying if you want to simulate in person speeches given the current environment.

Scott ran Table Topics with questions from the 365 questions link under “Role Checklists”. Our Guest, Kris, took home Top Prize.
